Explore Our Programs, Events, and Resources

NAN's programs are built around a simple premise: nonprofit leaders already have most of the answers they need. What they often lack is time, space, and the right people in the room. Our programs are designed to provide all three.

Action Labs work through specific challenges. Action Networking builds the relationships that make that work possible. Action Notes capture and share what the network is learning. Together, they create something more than any one program could on its own: a community where leaders aren’t doing this work alone.

Working sessions on the challenges that don't have easy answers.

Action Labs are issue-focused sessions where nonprofit leaders and issue experts come together to work through shared challenges, the kind that show up across organizations regardless of size, sector, or mission.

These aren’t panels or presentations. They’re working sessions. You come with a real challenge. You leave with clearer thinking, new perspectives, and practical next steps. Topics are drawn from what leaders in the network are actually navigating — funding shifts, board dynamics, staff capacity, community trust, and more.

Who it’s for:

Executive directors, program directors, senior staff, and founders across Northern California.

Quarterly gatherings for discussion, reflection, and genuine connection.

Action Networking events give nonprofit leaders a place to come together outside the pressure of their day-to-day — for honest conversation, shared reflection, and the kind of connection that’s hard to find anywhere else.

These aren’t networking events in the traditional sense. There’s no performance required. Just leaders who understand each other’s work, in an environment built on trust. Events are held quarterly. Some are open to any nonprofit leader in the region. Others are for NAN members. All are designed to feel worth your time.

What we're learning. Shared openly.

Action Notes is NAN’s publication. It captures insights, frameworks, and lessons emerging from conversations across the network, written to be genuinely useful, not just informative.
